“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
The enemy is not creative. He has been running the same playbook for thousands of years. Lust, greed, deception, and shame. And one of his most effective tools is a lie whispered at just the right moment: your past defines you, you are too far gone, God could not possibly use someone like you. If you have ever believed one of those lies, you are not alone. But here is what you need to know: you do not fight those lies with your feelings. Feelings shift. Feelings can be deceived. You fight lies with the truth of God’s Word. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He did not argue with the enemy or try to reason His way out. He responded with Scripture. Three words: it is written. That is your model. That is your weapon. You are not who the enemy says you are. If you are in Christ, you are a new creation. The old is gone. That is not a motivational phrase. That is Scripture, and it is more powerful than any accusation the enemy can throw at you. Start filling your mind with what God says about you. When the lies come, and they will, you will have something to stand on.
Reflection
What is one lie you have been believing about yourself, and what does Scripture say that directly contradicts it?
Quote
“We don’t fight the lies with our feelings, we fight the lies of the enemy with the truth of God’s word.”
Prayer
God, help me recognize the enemy’s lies and replace them with Your truth. Teach me Your Word so I always have something solid to stand on. Amen.
