When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.” – John 16:8

Have you ever wondered how you came to realize you needed Jesus? It did not happen because you were smart enough or spiritually aware enough to figure it out on your own. Something happened inside of you. Your eyes were opened. You saw yourself clearly, maybe for the first time, and you knew you needed a Savior. That was the Holy Spirit at work. One of His most important roles is conviction. He gently but clearly shows us where we fall short, not to shame us, but to point us back to grace. He opens our eyes to sin so that we can run toward Jesus rather than away from Him. And here is the freeing truth: your standing with God has never been based on how well you perform. It is not your good works or your track record that makes you right with God. It is the finished work of the cross. Full stop. The Holy Spirit keeps reminding you of that. Every time guilt tries to convince you that you have to earn your way back, the Spirit points you to Jesus. Every time shame whispers that you are too far gone, the Spirit reminds you of grace. You do not have to carry the weight of trying to be good enough. You are already covered. Let that sink in today.

Reflection
Are there areas in your life where you are still trying to earn God’s approval rather than resting in the grace He has already given you?

Quote
“It is through the conviction of the Holy Spirit that our eyes are open to the awareness of our need for a Savior. Friend, you did not save you. The Holy Spirit opened your eyes to see your need for a Savior today.”

Prayer
Lord, thank You that my righteousness comes from You and not from my own effort. Holy Spirit, remind me daily of the grace that covers me completely. Amen.
