Unchanging Truth

‘Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.’ – Proverbs 30:5

“That’s just your truth.” “What’s true for you might not be true for me.” These phrases have become common in our culture, reflecting a belief that truth is subjective and personal. While this might sound tolerant and inclusive, it leaves us adrift in a sea of uncertainty where nothing can be truly known or trusted. But what if there’s a different kind of truth? What if some things are true regardless of whether we believe them or feel them? Consider gravity – it works the same whether you believe in it or not. Jump off a building while denying gravity, and you’ll still fall. God’s Word operates on this same principle of objective truth. It doesn’t change based on our feelings, circumstances, or cultural shifts. When Scripture says something is true, it remains true whether we’re having a good day or a terrible one, whether society agrees or disagrees, whether it’s popular or unpopular. This isn’t restrictive – it’s liberating! In a world where everything seems to shift like sand, we have a rock-solid foundation. When emotions overwhelm us, when circumstances confuse us, when culture pressures us to compromise, we can anchor ourselves to truths that never change. Yesterday we learned that God’s Word is alive and active. Today, understand that this living Word is also unchanging and reliable. It’s the perfect combination: relevant enough to speak to your current situation, yet stable enough to be your unshakeable foundation.

Reflection

In what areas of your life are you tempted to rely on subjective feelings rather than objective biblical truth?

Quote

God’s truth does not change with times. It does not change with our feelings. It does not change with our circumstances or our culture.

Prayer
Father, in a world that tells me truth is relative, help me to find security in Your unchanging Word. When my feelings and circumstances try to contradict Your truth, give me the faith to stand firm on what You have said. Amen.
