“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5

Long before ultrasound technology could reveal a baby in the womb, God was already intimately acquainted with you. Before your parents knew you, before you knew yourself, God knew you completely. He didn’t just know what you would look like or what talents you might have—He knew your purpose. This is the beautiful truth revealed in Jeremiah: God knew us, set us apart, and appointed us before we were even formed. Think about that! The God who created galaxies and designed DNA took personal interest in crafting your specific purpose. You are not here by chance. You weren’t born in this time period, in your family, with your specific abilities by random chance. God intentionally placed you here, now, with exactly what you need to fulfill His purpose for your life. Perhaps you’ve made mistakes that make you feel disqualified from purpose. But God’s calling transcends our past failures. His grace doesn’t just save us from something—it saves us for something. Your past doesn’t define your purpose; God does. And He has never wavered in His intention for your life, even when you’ve wandered from His path.

Reflection
What parts of your story—even the difficult chapters—might God be wanting to use as part of His purpose for your life?

Quote
Don’t allow the mistakes of your life before Christ to keep you from your purpose in Christ.

Prayer
Lord, it’s humbling to know that you knew me and appointed me before I was even born. Thank you that my purpose isn’t limited by my mistakes but is secured by your grace. Help me to trust your design for my life, even when I don’t fully understand it. Amen.
