“The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him …” – 1 Kings 9:11-13

We often expect God to speak through dramatic signs or supernatural events. While God can certainly work in extraordinary ways, He frequently speaks to us in the ordinary moments of life. Learning to trust God in small, daily decisions builds our confidence in hearing His voice for bigger choices. It’s like building a muscle – the more we exercise our faith in the routine aspects of life, the stronger our ability to discern His voice becomes. Don’t overlook the simple ways God might be speaking to you today through His Word, through prayer, or through everyday circumstances.

Reflection
What ordinary moments in your day could become opportunities to listen for God’s voice?

Quote

Prayer
Lord, help me to recognize Your voice in the ordinary moments of my day. Increase my faith to trust You in both small and big decisions. Thank You for Your faithful guidance. Amen.
