‘For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.’ – John 3:17
Sometimes we avoid the light because we’re afraid of what it might reveal. Like a child hiding evidence of wrongdoing, we might think staying in darkness is safer than being exposed. But God’s light doesn’t shine to shame us – it shines to save us. When Jesus encountered the woman caught in adultery, He didn’t shine His light to condemn her but to free her. His light exposed the truth while offering grace and a new beginning. This is the beautiful paradox of God’s light: it reveals our brokenness while simultaneously offering healing. We don’t need to hide our struggles or pretend we have it all together. God’s light brings freedom, not condemnation.
Reflection
What keeps you from being fully honest with God about your struggles? How might remembering His grace change your approach to confession?
Quote
You don’t need to get yourself together to come to Jesus. You don’t need to clean yourself up, just come to Jesus and let his light begin to shine in your life.
Prayer
Father, thank you that your light brings freedom, not condemnation. Help me to trust in your grace and be honest about my struggles. Thank you for loving me exactly as I am. Amen.
