“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20
A powerful way grace transforms us is by giving us a new identity. Before Christ, we found our identity in many things—our accomplishments, relationships, failures, or desires. But now, we have been given a completely new identity as children of God. This isn’t just a nice title; it’s a fundamental change in who we are. The Bible tells us that our old self has been crucified with Christ. The person we once were—with all its patterns, desires, and tendencies—has died, and now Christ lives in us. Many people today are searching desperately for their “true selves,” looking inward or to the world for answers. But true identity can only be found in Christ. When we try to discover who we are apart from Him, we end up confused and broken. Today, instead of trying to create or discover your identity, embrace the one God has already given you. You are a child of God, loved unconditionally, with Christ living in you. Let this truth shape how you see yourself and how you live.
Reflection
In what ways are you still trying to find your identity in things other than Christ, and how might embracing your identity as God’s child change your perspective?
Quote
Our identity is found only in Christ.
Prayer
Father, thank You for making me Your child. Help me to fully embrace this new identity and to stop looking to other things to define who I am. Remind me daily that my old self has been crucified with Christ and now He lives in me. May this truth transform how I see myself and how I live. Amen.
