“Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'” – John 4:13-14
Look around. The world is full of thirsty people. They are searching in relationships, in achievements, in substances, in movements, in anything that promises to finally fill the emptiness. And none of it works. Not for long. Because the thirst they are trying to satisfy can only be quenched by one thing, and that one thing is Jesus. In John 4, Jesus met a woman at a well in the middle of the day. She had been through five marriages and was living with someone who was not her husband. She had tried well after well, and none of them had satisfied her. But one conversation with Jesus changed everything. She left her water jar behind and ran back to her town, telling everyone she met about Him. She had no theological training. She did not have all the answers. She simply had an encounter with Jesus, and that was enough. Here is the thing: you have what she had. If Jesus has changed your life, you carry living water. And the people around you, your neighbors, your coworkers, your friends, are thirsty. You do not need to have everything figured out. You do not need a perfect testimony or a seminary degree. You just need to be willing to point people toward the One who can truly satisfy. That is it. That is the whole assignment.
Reflection
Who in your life is clearly searching for something more, and what is one small, genuine step you could take to point them toward Jesus?
Quote
We have the living water of Jesus. And there are people around us who are thirsty.
Prayer
Lord, make me aware of the thirsty people around me. Give me the courage and compassion to point them to You. Amen.
