Let Go and Reach Forward

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” – Hebrews 12:1

Most of us carry more than we realize. Old hurts, past failures, comfortable habits, and the quiet need to stay in control. These things do not always feel like burdens, but they can quietly keep us from stepping into what God has next for us. Hebrews 12 gives us a clear and encouraging picture. We are invited to throw off everything that hinders and run the race marked out for us. Not crawl. Not limp. Run. That kind of freedom starts with letting go. Here is the good news: your past does not have to define your future. The hard seasons you have walked through, the mistakes you are not proud of, the version of yourself you are trying to leave behind. None of those things disqualify you. They can be part of your story without being the end of it. God is not asking you to pretend those things never happened. He is asking you to stop letting them have the final word. When you release your grip on what was, you free your hands to grab hold of what He has prepared. Today is a great day to take an honest look at what you might be holding onto. Not with shame, but with hope. Because the same God who calls you forward is the One who will carry you there.

Reflection

What is one thing, whether a past hurt, a habit, or a need for control, that you might be holding onto that is keeping you from fully stepping into what God has for you?

Quote

“These things don’t have to be your story. They can be a part of your story, but they don’t have to determine your future.”

Prayer

Lord, show me what I am holding onto that does not belong in my hands anymore. Give me the courage to let it go and the faith to trust what You have ahead. Amen.
