“Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.'” – Luke 5:5
After a long, exhausting night of catching nothing, the last thing Peter probably wanted to hear was to go back out and try again. He was tired. He was experienced. He had already done everything right, and it had not worked. But Jesus said go deeper. And Peter obeyed. What happened next was more than Peter could hold on his own. The nets were so full they began to break. That story is an invitation for every one of us. God is not calling you to stay in the shallow end of faith where it feels comfortable and manageable. He is calling you deeper. Deeper in prayer. Deeper in worship. Deeper in obedience, even when it does not make sense. The miracle Peter experienced was not waiting on the shore. It was waiting in the deep water, on the other side of his obedience. You may be standing at the edge of something right now, unsure if it is worth going further. It is. Take the step. Obey what God is asking of you, even if it feels illogical. The harvest waiting for you in the deep is greater than anything the shallow waters could ever produce.
