“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” – John 1:1
Have you ever had a friend who only called when they needed something? That kind of relationship feels shallow and unfulfilling. Sometimes, we can treat our relationship with God the same way. We might show up on Sundays, ask for help during emergencies, but miss out on the deep, daily connection He desires to have with us. Just as a casual acquaintance differs from a close friend, there’s a profound difference between knowing about God and truly knowing Him personally. God invites us into an intimate relationship where we can experience His presence, love, and transformation daily. He wants to be more than our emergency contact – He wants to be our closest companion and the source of our spiritual sustenance.
Reflection
When you examine your relationship with God, are you treating Him as a casual acquaintance or pursuing Him as your closest friend?
Prayer
Father, forgive me for times when I’ve kept You at arm’s length. Help me move beyond surface-level faith to develop a deeper, more meaningful relationship with You. Open my heart to know You more intimately. Amen.
