“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” – Matthew 5:6
Just like our bodies signal hunger when we need nourishment, our spirits can develop a deep hunger for God. This spiritual appetite isn’t automatic – it needs to be cultivated. When we recognize this hunger, it becomes a powerful force drawing us closer to God. Think about how a physical hunger can consume your thoughts and drive your actions. Similarly, spiritual hunger can become the driving force that shapes our daily choices and priorities. The beautiful truth is that God promises to satisfy this holy hunger. He doesn’t create spiritual appetite to leave us wanting; He creates it to lead us to fullness in Him.
Reflection
What specific areas of your spiritual life are you currently feeling hungry for more of God?
Quote
When we hunger for God’s presence, suddenly we become more aware of his presence in our life, that he is with us through it all.
Prayer
Lord, awaken a deeper hunger for You in my heart. Help me recognize the areas where I’ve become spiritually complacent, and kindle a fresh desire for more of Your presence in my life. Amen.
